When it comes to creating a warm and inviting home, there are many different style options to choose from. But if you’re looking for a rich and luxurious feel, there are a few key elements you’ll want to incorporate into your design:
Add custom look lighting
Lighting accents add glamour to your space, and if you don’t want to spend the money and time to wire in custom lighting there are alternatives. Use battery operate puck lights to light the underside of your kitchen cabinets, or use battery operated puck lights in wall sconces in your bedroom or living room.
There’s nothing quite like real flowers and greenery, and adding these to accent tables in your home will instantly elevate the look. If you can’t afford designer floral arrangements, you can arrange grocery store flowers to look more expensive using these tips here. Gathering greenery from your yard or flowers from your garden in the summer are also fantastic ways to get the look for less!
If you have tiny windows that don’t do justice to the lovely view outside, then consider opening up the wall and installing floor to ceiling glass. If there is no view to speak of, see if you can be ingenious and create one! Some deep planter boxes, tall ferns or bamboo and creepers on the walls outside on your balcony or terrace can do wonders to create a soothing patch of green that you can look at all day. A window seat next to this terrace garden would be the perfect place for your afternoon cup of tea!
If your kitchen is cramped and tiny, see if you can make it an open kitchen. Quite often the wall between the kitchen and the dining areas may not be a load-bearing wall, in which case you can knock it down quite easily. Even otherwise, talk to your engineer and see if a beam can be installed that will take the load of the walls above. Voila! You have a large open plan space that is an interior designer’s delight!
